Help Wanted – Pump Station Operator
The Monmouth County Bayshore Outfall Authority (MCBOA) is currently seeking an entry level pump station operator. Candidate must possess a minimum C-1 level collections license or must be able to obtain within 1 year by completing 180 hours of the Introductory to water/wastewater class and subsequently passing the NJDEP C-1 exam. MCBOA operates two large pumping stations which receive approximately 15 mgd of treated effluent from the Township of Middletown Sewerage Authority (TOMSA) and the Bayshore Regional Sewerage Authority (BRSA). The effluent is conveyed through over 14 miles of pipeline and dispersed into the Atlantic Ocean.
Duties will include:
Read & interpret meters, gauges, charts and
other sensing devices to monitor plant operation
Operate pumps, valves, and equipment
Take samples of water from sample station
Ability to perform standardized water quality tests such as PH, chlorine
residual, temperature
Interpret & enter lab data to ensure results are in compliance with regulatory
agency
Keep detailed records & readings of plant operation & maintenance
Use SCADA and computerized management systems
Perform preventive maintenance duties, including
painting equipment, cleaning of filters, custodial and grounds maintenance
Operate equipment, such as engine-driven pumps, generators, compressors
Must be available in emergency situations such as inclement weather and pipe
repairs
Able to work weekends unsupervised
Other related duties may also be performed
Skills:
High school
diploma/equivalent
Valid NJ driver’s license & clean driving record
Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
Canidate should be mechanically inclined
